Gangrenous Gallbladder

Having a gangrenous gallbladder is a problem that is not very common, but it does occur in a few people. This happens to people who have inflammation in the gall bladder and it has been left untreated. Those who suffer from a diseased gallbladder or subsequent inflammation, will most likely have severe pain. There are some people who do not have any side effects or complications in spite of the inflammation in the organ. This can make them become lethargic in the treatment of the condition. This can lead to complications including gangrene formation in the gall bladder.

Having a gangrenous gallbladder is simply cell death in the organ. This is also called necrosis. There is no blood supply to parts or the whole organ, and it dies internally. This is a severe infection as it can spread infection to other parts of the body. The initial signs that occur could be severe pain in the abdomen as well as nausea and vomiting. The other signs of this conditions are such that the  affected person will start suffering from chills and indigestion. Various other signs of cell death are also evident in the person such as high white cell count, and fever.

The treatment for a gangrenous gallbladder needs to be initiated as early as possible. If this condition is left untreated for long enough than it eventually leads to death by sepsis. The immediate treatment procedure is the removal of the organ. A cholecystectomy is done, which is the removal of the gall bladder. Either the whole of the organ can be removed or a part that has become dead can be removed. This will help to relieve the symptoms. If there is a delay in the treatment and if the infection has become widespread, then the person could die.

To make sure that the condition is prevented, any person who is identified to have gall bladder problems should get them checked out and treated as soon as possible. The delay in treatment is the main reason for gangrene to be formed. Since it is a very complicated disease that can even be fatal for the person, it should be taken very seriously. Though gall bladder problems may seem very simple initially, the lack of treatment can lead to a gangrenous gallbladder.
