Porcelain gallbladder
A porcelain gallbladder is a condition that is commonly encountered by doctors in their practice. This condition is where the walls of the gall bladder are hardened and become calcified. This means that there is Calcium added to the various contents in the gall bladder, and it forms a sludge like substance. This material gets stuck to the wall of the organ and forms a hardened wall. People maybe asymptomatic and the person suffering from this condition is usually diagnosed when they have diagnostic procedures.
Other reasons for this conditions formation are stones in the gall bladder. When stones are present in the organ, they can become an irritation to the walls of the organ. When the irritation occurs regularly, it can lead to the thickening of the walls. The inflammation can be either acute, or chronic in nature. Whatever the condition, it can cause the person to suffer from thickening of the walls. Though the initial symptoms may not be severe, some patients with a porcelain gallbladder can suffer from severe pain.
People who suffer from the thickened walls of the gall bladder need to get immediate treatment to either reduce the inflammation, or to get the organ removed. Once a person is suffering from disease of the gallbladder, over a long period of time a porcelain gallbladder will form unless it’s removed. This is because of the fact that the repeated infection, and inflammation in the affected organ will cause chronic hardening and calcification of this part of the body. So, the initial time when the calcification occurs is the right time for the gall bladder to be removed. If there is a delay in the removal, then the person who is affected has a small chance of suffering from cancer.
As soon as the gall bladder is removed, the person who was affected will have immediate relief from pain and other symptoms. Since the gallbladder hasn’t been functioning properly most people will also have better digestion happening in the body. This surgery is something that is positive and will prevent further complications from happening. Since a simple laparoscopic surgery is enough to remove the gall bladder, it’s very easy, simple and an effective way to deal with a porcelain gallbladder by removing the organ.
